Will McNelis

Will McNelis

Whether you’re new to WordPress or a seasoned blogger, you may at times feel overwhelmed when choosing from the 15,000 free plugins.

Never fear, Will McNelis is here to help.

Will has plenty of experience in selecting the essential plugins when setting up client sites through his company McNelis Media. At WordCamp Gold Coast, he’s going to share this experience and reveal the 10 Essential Plugins for your WordPress Site.

To get a teaser for his presentation, I asked Will about his favourite plugin and why he’s excited about WordCamp.

Your presentation is on 10 must have plugins, as a teaser, what’s your number 1 favourite plugin and why?

Number One favorite plugin I suppose would be Akismet because I would be crushed under the weight of comment spam otherwise. Other than that, I would say NextGen gallery; I’ve been using that a lot lately, and its a very well written plugin.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Gold Coast?

I’m most looking forward to learning more about WordPress; the knowledge base at a WordCamp is incredible. Apart from that, I’m looking forward to networking with other WP users.

What do you love most about WordPress?

My favorite thing about WP is the flexibility of the platform as well as the awesome UI that I can turn over to clients with ease.

You’re in living on the Gold Coast but hail from Charleston, SC. What do you like most about life on the Gold Coast?

My favorite thing about the Gold Coast is definitely the climate and the beach. We have both back in Charleston, its a little cooler in the summertime and warmer in the winter. The waves are a lot better on the beaches as well 🙂

Thanks Will. I look forward to hearing your other essential plugins.
